You May be seeing some intermittently :D

The Little Things About My Dogs
-     The way she pokes her nose out from under the table when you’re eating.
-         When she whines slightly in her sleep during a nightmare, or barks slightly.
-         When he stretches out flat on his back with his legs in the air and sleeps.
-         The way they dance around for dinner.
-         The way she barks at the door, but he claws it.
-         When they rest their heads on pillows to sleep.
-         When they put their paws on the side of the bed and beg to come up.
-         The way they build paths through deep snow.
-         The way he cuddles with the cats.
-         The way they immediately sit and turn those adoring eyes on you when food is mentioned and or present.

Rosie got snowy after a little play time!

She = Rosie, the Scottish Terrier

He = Mr. Sim, the Corgi.

Stepping Together, A Fresh Start

My Blog Has Been Quiet

… for the past few months, but I am going to change that, as I have changed a few other things. This will now be a pet-only blog, but I will be starting a new blog on Lifestyle and Sports, if you are interested.

But, Let me start off this fresh beginning with some numbers.

-         63% of all households in the U.S.A have a pet.
-     37.2% own dogs, 32.4% own cats, 3.9% own birds and 1.8% own horses.
-         75 million dogs, 88 millions cats, 16 million birds, 13.4 million reptiles, 24.3 million small animals,  9.6 million saltwater fish and 192 million freshwater fish are the amounts of animals kept as pets.
-         In 2007 $41.2 billion was spent on pets by households in the U.S, compared to $17 billion in 1998.
-

So what does this mean? Well, to me, it shows that the pet industry is continuing to grow, and that more people are enjoying the wonderful companionship of a pet each year.

Lets  take a look at my numbers:

2 Dogs
5 Cats
3 tanks of freshwater fish ( relatively small tanks)
7 horses
A beehive
19 Chickens

Yes, I may have an addiction.
Oh well. I’ll be sure to tell you more about my thoughts on Pets, and Animals in general, in my Blogs to Come!

P.S—my new Blog Name, Stepping Together, represents the relationship with people and pets….

Pinky: Sweetest of them All

She certainly is. Today I want to introduce you to Pinky; a 3 year old Mille Fleur D’uccle hen. Diminutive and very friendly, Pinky is my favorite. She is also the lowest on the pecking order….

I first met Pinky at the Jackson’s farm where I was boarding my mare, Sprite. She intrigued me, seeing as she was the only chicken there I could pet or pick up. Each day she would run over to say hello. Slowly the other chickens were picked off by roosters, and I worried she would be too. So the Jackson’s kindly gave her to me, and into the fortress pen she went. She definitely enjoyed the car ride home.

Apparently Pinky was picked on as a chick. Some crazy lady, as a last ditch effort to save her, smeared some pink cream on her. She lived, and received her name; Pinky.

Pinky definitely loves her daily treats and I love her. We go for walks together. J
